The event, where academic knowledge was brought to the field, highlighted the challenges and inequalities in working life and provided an important platform for making women's labor visible.

The talk titled “Meeting of Science and Working Women” was held as part of the Science Cafe event organized by the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Science Communication Coordination. The event, organized on the occasion of March 8 International Women's Day, brought together female workers from Sütofis Gıda A.Ş. and academics.

MAKÜ Women and Family Studies UAM Director Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar and Deputy Director Assoc. Dr. Canan Gönüllü participated as speakers in the talk. During the event, the place of women in science, production, and working life in the world and Turkey was discussed, and the social, economic, and structural risks faced by women were also evaluated.

In the speeches, it was emphasized that there are still significant inequalities in women's participation in education, working life, and decision-making processes; especially factors such as crisis periods, economic difficulties, and gender-based discrimination can make women's lives more fragile. However, it was noted that the transformative role women undertake in science, production, and social development is becoming increasingly visible.

The Science Cafe event, which aims to strengthen the connection between science and society, contributed to the sharing of academic knowledge with different segments of society while also providing an important platform for making women's labor and their role in scientific production visible.
