The program “Future Professions: Autonomous Systems” was organized on 24.06.2026 as part of the Science Cafe Meetings by the Science Communication Coordination of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.
The program, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan ULUTAŞ, featured speakers including Prof. Dr. Ahmet UYUMAZ from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering-Architecture, Öğr. Gör. Doğucan YAĞMUR from the Autonomous Systems Technician Program of the Technical Sciences Vocational School, I-TECH Robotics CEO Ferdi ALAKUŞ as a sector representative, and student İrem ŞAHİN from the autonomous systems program.
During the event, topics discussed included what exactly Autonomous Systems and the technician training in this field encompass, what differentiating aspects they have, the current growth momentum of autonomous systems in the industry and robotics sector, whether there is a gap in the market in this field, what critical practical skills Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University students acquire while preparing themselves for the profession of autonomous systems in laboratories and classes, what additional visions or competencies leading companies in the sector like I-TECH Robotics expect from young graduates alongside technical knowledge, and what factors attract students to the department.
