Future Professions: Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots

The program “Future Professions: Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots” was organized on 24.06.2026 as part of the Science Cafe Meetings by the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Science Communication Coordination.
Moderated by Assoc. Dr. Hakan ULUTAŞ, the program featured speakers including Assoc. Dr. İlker ÜNAL, a faculty member from the Department of Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Ferdi ALAKUŞ, CEO of I-TECH Robotics as a sector representative, and Kerem ARIER, a student from the Department of Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots.
During the event, topics discussed included what Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots truly represent and why it is one of the most strategic fields of the future, what awaits us in the transition from industrial robotics to agricultural robotics, whether the business world is ready for this integration, factors guiding students towards this field, how students acquire multidisciplinary skills in both agriculture/farming and robotics/software in this department, the biggest opportunities and challenges young people developing automation and robotic solutions in agriculture will face in the field, and what the most exciting technological practices or applications in Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots education are.
