The program “Future Professions: Digital Agriculture Technologies” was organized on 24.06.2026 as part of the Science Cafe Meetings by the Science Communication Coordination of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.

Under the moderation of Dr. Faculty Member Özge GÖKÇE, the program featured speakers including Dr. Faculty Member Tahsin UYGUN from the Department of Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, sector representative Dr. Faculty Member Mete Yiğit, and student Zeynep Asena TEKİN from the Digital Agriculture Technologies department.


During the event, topics discussed included what the digitalization of agriculture truly means, the academic role universities play in this vision, the major software and technological needs in the digitalization process of the agricultural sector, how these technologies will transform traditional agricultural methods while students receive education in the field of digital agriculture, the practical competencies with which students graduate while learning coding, data analysis, and agricultural technologies together, the characteristics sought in an expert who produces agricultural software or manages these systems, and what kind of academic and institutional career awaits young people who will become digital agriculture specialists in the future.
