The program “Future Professions: Software Engineering” was organized on 25.06.2026 as part of the Science Cafe Meetings by the Science Communication Coordination of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.
The program, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda UYSAL, featured speakers including Prof. Dr. İsmail KIRBAŞ from the Department of Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet ÇİFCİ from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, industry representative Öğr. Gör. Hüseyin TURGUT, owner of the Datademi company operating in Burdur MAKÜ TEKNOKENT, and software engineering graduate student İrfan KUTBAY.
During the event, topics discussed included how the intersection of Software Engineering and Computer/Electrical-Electronics has evolved today, the chances and importance of local initiatives like 'Datademi' in global competition in today's software world and industry, the critical practical skills such as analytical thinking, using artificial intelligence tools, and architectural design that the Software Engineering department of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University imparts to its students, and advice that can be given to future software engineers to catch up with the world in an era where artificial intelligence can write its own code, as well as advice for young people who want to establish their own software companies, become entrepreneurs, or make a difference in the industry.
